There was a baptism at my church this morning. Two much-loved families in our church had two of their much-loved infants baptised. I myself have a one-year-old son. Don't tell anyone at my church (as if they don't remind us regularly), but my son is un-baptised. SHHHHH!!! Don't tell!!! [Insert gobs of sarcasm here]
Ok. The serivce ended with the celebrant saying, "Please welcome the newest members of the Body of Christ!"
What do you think of the idea that "No one ever gave so much as Jesus gave."? This is a lyric I heard recently in a song I am judging for the Gospel Music Association of Canada and it refers to the crucifixion of Jesus. It's Biblical to say that to give ones life for his friends is the greatest display of love (John 15:13). So this means that Jesus displayed the greatest possible display of love. Does it mean that no one could ever also have give as much? I could die for my friends
This weekend I was driving past a church with a sign that said something like this,
"When the birds are singing its God's laughter."
I was thinking about this and then I thought,
"No it isn't."
I was speaking with Dan about kids and families and we were marveling at the fact that there are so many animal species whose young are forced to walk and run within hours of being born. It’s a survival thing of course. If they couldn’t walk soon after birth, they would become another animal’s tasty num-nums.
Yes, it's true. Red Deer College would rather you simply go to college (their college I presume) than pursue your dreams.
